Seaside Caves are a dreamy smear of sticky lipgloss across a sullen, shadowed face; hazy androgen neu-wave pop from the New Jersey shore. This is their debut EP. Five tracks of big 80s John Hughes pop choruses, melancholic vocals, weltschmerz synths, bleak chorused bass, glittering guitars and tight, burly drums. These songs detail a hopefulness that begs to crest the bleak, nethermost depths of life, but is often beaten back; a stargazing crawl through the underbelly. This is music that dwells in the darkness but does not wallow in it.
